Marsh Lake Ambulance

The Ambulance Section of Marsh Lake Fire Rescue presently has 5 trained and certified active members with EMR status and 1 with EMT-B status.  More will take the EMR training this Spring (2003).  We also have many volunteers with Advanced First Aid and CPR training.  One Member (Irv) is certified by the Red Cross to teach its courses, and will do so for both the MLFR volunteers and the general public.

2002 was our busiest year on record, with with a 50% increase in medical calls over the previous year.  We have responded to a vast variety of medical calls and situations, for people of all ages, with many types of trauma and medical problems.  The ambulance is based at the Marsh Lake Fire Hall  and we are available 24/7.

We practice and train at least twice a month to increase our skill levels in patient care.  In October 19/2002 we all participated in a mass casualty MVA scenario held here in Marsh Lake with multi-disciplinary efforts to further hone our skills in preparation for "the worst".

We are constantly upgrading our equipment, and in 2002 we added 2 state of the art ambulance radios.  At the present time the MLFR Society is involved with a very active fund-raising to purchase and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) to enable us to give the best possible care for heart attack victims.  We hope to have it available for use this Spring.
