MEDICAL
MEETING NOVEMBER 19TH 2004
Michael
Swainson acting manager from
Whitehorse Ambulance is our guest speaker
Barry
Kidd was unable to attend.
Michael:
Wants to have full volunteer base within 2 years-he and Barry are going
to go heavy on recruiting.
Up
to now all training is not recognized by the Yukon Government or Whitehorse
Ambulance
New
training will be offered for first responder course consisting of 77hrs adding
emergency medical responder course of 8-9 hrs
All
volunteers are to submit to Irv a PLAR package (Previous Learning Achievement
Recognition). This means each volunteer will submit all certificates they
have achieved over the years. Will help those find certificates that they may
have lost. The training they have already received over the years will be
reviewed on an individual basis and each person will be accredited with the
training they already have. They will then only have to take the training they
need to achieve the level they wish. The Yukon College is running the program
for the certificate. The Yukon will
pay for all training and gear. Will
be CMA accredited-Canada wide. There
are 4 levels that can be achieved
