South McClintock Fire Preparations

On July 14/02, Dennis and Mike visited the South McClintock area to view the resident’s fire preparations. Doug Phillips demonstrated the sirens, fire trucks and pumps (all privately owned, but for public use in case of fire) Leo Bourassa demonstrated his pumping system which worked immediately and well. Doug pushed the siren button, and within 5 minutes approximately 30 people and 1 water truck had arrived, from all over the S McClintock area and those who were outside from the Army Beach area. As well, people from N McClintock called 911 and RCMP Dispatch quickly alerted us….so the siren could be heard across the river outlet also. Very impressive for an unrehearsed, spur of the moment test.
